WHAT IS AUGMENT?

The AUGMENT collaborative are looking to establish current practice of ankle fracture management in the UK measured against BOAST 12 guidelines. With your help we are expecting to accrue 100 hospitals and approximately 2000 patients!

All collaborators that sign up will receive a ‘toolkit’ via email, which explains the process in more detail.

​

We feel that the AUGMENT study is a  fantastic opportunity to boost your CV with research and also to show your commitment to Orthopaedics and Surgery. All collaborators will receive named corporate authorship on PubMed in any resulting publications as outlined in our study protocol.

What is AUGMENT

SUMMARY

​

Aim: The primary aim is to determine how fractures are managed in the United Kingdom 


Primary outcome measure: Management of ankle fractures according to BOAST 12

 

Hospital eligibility: Any hospital in the country managing patients with ankle fractures

​

Inclusion criteria: Consecutive patients undergoing treatment for ankle fractures 

​

Team: Individual hospital teams with up to four people, collecting data for four weeks. Patients will be identified, and data collected on all patients during the selected four-week period, with follow-up to completion of treatment. Multiple teams may collect data over different one or two-week periods. 

​

Time period: 5th November 2018 to 3rd December 2018 for identification (with follow-up to last period to 27th February 2019) 

 

Validation: The quality of methods used to collect data will be assessed through independent evaluators 

 

Registration: Interested participants should register with our collaborator sign-up page on the website
